Reality TV fans might know him as the mysterious guy from Single’s Inferno, while C-drama lovers recognize him as the immortal heart-stealer from My Amazing Boyfriend. Yes, we’re talking about Kim Tae-hwan (金泰焕 Jīn Tài Huàn) – the man who’s giving us serious 男神 vibes (nánshén, “male god”).
Kim Tae-hwan shot to fame in China with his role as Xue Lingqiao (薛灵乔 Xuē Língqiáo) in My Amazing Boyfriend. In this drama, he’s an 高冷男神 (gāolěng nánshén, “cool and aloof male god”) – a centuries-old immortal who unexpectedly becomes roommates with a clumsy, hilarious young woman. Their love-hate relationship and 甜甜的狗粮 (tián tián de gǒuliáng, “sweet dog food,” aka lovey-dovey moments) had Chinese fans glued to the screen.

Kim Tae-hwan worked hard to deliver his lines in Chinese. While his native language is Korean, his dedication to perfecting his Mandarin dialogue made his performance even more impressive. The saying describes his hard work perfectly:
